Exploring low-emissions pathways - oil and gas webinar

Online 22 February 2017 09:00 - 17:00

09:00 - 10:00 GMT & 16:00 - 17:00 GMT

IPIECA is pleased to invite oil and gas industry colleagues to its webinar on Exploring low-emissions pathways. The webinar is in support of IPIECA’s recently launched publication, Exploring low-emissions pathways: Advancing the Paris Puzzle, which gives the latest consensus view of the global oil and gas industry on addressing climate change.  We will focus on its key messages and also offer time for questions and discussion. The webinar will run in two time slots 09:00 GMT and 16:00 GMT.

Meeting the aims of the Paris Agreement implies a transformation of the energy system over the course of this century. There are many possible pathways to reach a low-emissions future, however, almost all pathways share three common elements: improving efficiency and saving energy; reducing emissions from power generation, and deploying alternative low-emission options in end-use sectors. The webinar will cover the following:

  • Challenges of a transformation.
  • Common elements of a pathway.
  • Critical enablers.
  • Industry efforts.
  • Q+A.

Speakers:
Brian Sullivan, Executive Director, IPIECA
Renato De Filippo, Climate Change Manager, Eni and Vice-Chair, Climate Change Working Group, IPIECA
Malcolm Fawcett, Climate Change Director, ConocoPhillips and Chair, Climate Change Working Group, IPIECA
