Our Sustainability reporting guidance for the oil and gas industry is all you need to produce a high-quality sustainability report.
This practical guidance can be used by new and existing reporters. It offers a framework on i) how to report, describing the process for reporting, and ii) what to report, providing advice on how to develop suitable content fit for the current energy landscape.
It enables businesses of any size to create a sustainability report which clearly demonstrates how their company is managing climate, environmental, and social impacts and opportunities.
First published in 2005 and now in its fourth edition, the guidance was developed by reporting experts from Ipieca member companies and an independent external stakeholder panel of NGOs, investors and expert consultants.

Helping members navigate the reporting landscape
In addition to offering practical guidance, Ipieca monitors reporting standards and frameworks, informing members of fast-paced changes to the reporting landscape, as well as participating in consultations to provide technical input on these frameworks. This includes the International Sustainability Standards Board, European Financial Reporting Advisory Group, Global Reporting Initiative and the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures.
To support peer-learning, Ipieca leads an annual Sustainability reporting survey to identify trends in the sustainability reporting practices of Ipieca member companies. The results provide an overview of current practices and identify widely used performance indicators and emerging trends, enabling enhanced industry communication around sustainability issues.
