Biofuels sustainability standards and regulations workshop
11 Jul 2012
Catalyzing the debate on developing global approaches for certifying sustainable biofuels is central to IPIECA's and CONCAWE's roles. We examine the state of the science, document the policies that are being applied by regulators, and assess the implications for the fuels and biofuels industries. Past workshops have looked at the need for chain of custody systems (2008), indirect land use change (2009), and the biofuels-water nexus (2010).
The 2012 Biofuels Workshop, Biofuels sustainability standards and regulations, taking place from 18-19 September 2012 in Brussels, Belgium and co-sponsored by IPIECA and CONCAWE, will review the status of regional regulations impacting biofuels sustainability certification, assess the implementation of standards and voluntary schemes and consider improvements. It will also provide an opportunity to compare biofuels sustainability with other industries with similar objectives.
Invited speakers include representatives from the United Nations, regulators, biofuels producers, environmental groups, as well as academic and industry participants.
There is no charge to attend this workshop but space is limited. Please register on the event page.
