The Supplement provides guidance on key issues for the sector, expanded from GRI’s Guidelines, including:

  • Emissions, effluents and waste
  • Water
  • Biodiversity
  • Renewable energy
  • Biofuels
  • Health impact assessment
  • Asset integrity and safety processes
  • Indigenous Peoples
  • Impacts on local communities
  • Resettlement
  • Decommissioning

A PDF feedback form is available to download from GRI’s website for companies to provide comments directly. The feedback form consists of the draft Supplement with the option to provide comments on the sector Performance Indicators and sector commentary in the GRI Guidelines. The feedback form can be filled out, saved and submitted to GRI(guidelines@globalreporting.org).

IPIECA will also be submitting comments, please contact the Secretariat if you would like to be involved.

The Public Comment Period is open from 20 April 2011 until 20 July 2011.

Following the Public Comment Period, the GRI Working Group will review and consider all feedback received to finalize the Supplement. Release of the final Supplement is targeted for late 2011.

GRI held two webinars of the Sector Supplement– a free online conference that introduced the content of the draft Supplement, offered guidance on how to submit feedback, and provided an opportunity to ask the GRI Supplement team questions.
