IPIECA sponsored and participated in the 10th biennial International Chemical and Oil Pollution Conference and Exhibition (ICOPCE) organized by the Singapore Maritime Port Authority (MPA). The conference was held on 25-28 April, 2017 at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre in Singapore. ICOPCE is Asia’s leading thought-leadership platform focusing on the preparedness and response strategies for oil and chemical spills.
Brian Sullivan, IPIECA Executive Director, delivered a keynote speech on ‘Underlining Shipping’s Role in Safe Transportation and Global Environment’, after which he took part in the traditional ribbon cutting ceremony to formally open the event.
The Global Initiative for Southeast Asia (GI SEA) also participated through Jodi Nypuik, GI SEA Chair, as an expert member of the industry panel discussion on ‘The Challenge of Continuous Improvement - How much planning and preparedness is enough?’ In addition, Joselito Guevarra, GI SEA Project Manager, presented on regional preparedness in the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and the critical role of the GI SEA Project.
By bringing together the leading experts from the field, ICOPCE reinforced its position as a premier international maritime event for the world's energy and energy transportation industries, emergency response companies and government authorities.
