In collaboration with the Global Environmental Management Initiative (GEMI), IPIECA hosted a 1-day workshop on water risk assessment tools in Houston from 21-22 October. More than 45 members and guests attended the workshop, which provided an opportunity to learn about and discuss the IPIECA Global Water Tool for Oil and Gas and the GEMI Local Water Tool™ & Local Water Tool for Oil and Gas™. The workshop incorporated company presentations on the use of water risk assessment tools from BP, Chevron, Occidental Petroleum, Repsol and Statoil, workshop exercises and productive discussions on participant experiences/lessons learned from using the tools. GEMI member Procter and Gamble also presented on their use of the GEML Local Water Tool™ as part of their water risk assessment process.
A workshop report will follow in due course.
