IPIECA participates in OECD Policy Dialogue on Natural Resource Development

IPIECA attended an Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), multi-stakeholder consultation on natural resource based development, which was organised as part of the inaugural meeting of the Policy Dialogue on Natural Resource Development. The one day session, which took place in Paris on 18 December 2013, invited participating countries, the private sector and civil society stakeholders to voice their perspectives on a Scoping Paper issued prior to the meeting.

The Scoping Paper, which formed the basis of the discussion, identifies the ways in which natural resource revenues can be optimized and fairly distributed to encourage local development. Wolfgang Kraus, Senior Associate for IPIECA, participated in the discussion and highlighted IPIECA’s Local Content Strategy Guide as a practical tool for companies seeking to improve and manage local engagement. More broadly, the meeting provided an opportunity for stakeholders to share their knowledge and experiences and to identify priority issues for 2014-2015. The OECD will provide a summary of the inaugural meeting in February.
