Preventing and managing stress and fatigue in the workplace

Travel health

International travel is commonplace in the oil and gas industry, at all employee levels. The OGP-IPIECA Health Committee has produced a guide about protecting health while travelling. Companies can distribute the guidance to employees, or use it as part of an in-house health management programme.

Controlling substance abuse

Substance abuse compromises the safety of the workplace, operations and the environment, and can cause serious workplace incidents (both off-shore and on-shore).

The OGP-IPIECA Health Committee is updating OGP's current guidance on how to prevent and/or eliminate workplace substance abuse in the oil and gas industry. The guidance is based on leading practice and provides templates for education, testing, treatment and rehabilitation strategies.

Stress and fatigue

The OGP-IPIECA Health Committee has published a set of guides for oil and gas industry managers and supervisors to help them understand and recognize the causes and symptoms of stress and fatigue. The guides focuses on prevention and describes how to manage stress and fatigue in the workplace.
