Travis Hansen is Ipieca’s Marine Spill Director, leading the organisation’s work with the IMO–Ipieca Global Initiative (GI) to strengthen global oil spill preparedness, response and crisis‑management capability. He supports the delivery of GI programmes across multiple regions, including close collaboration with GI WACAF and the developing GI Caribbean, with a focus on capacity‑building, regional cooperation and transboundary response readiness.
Travis brings more than 20 years of international experience from ExxonMobil, where he served as Regional Response Team Lead for Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Asia Pacific, coordinating national‑level exercises and practitioner‑led crisis‑management training. He also served for five years as Vice Chair of Ipieca’s Marine Spill Group, supporting industry alignment with industry-standard tools and good‑practice guidance.
He works closely with key partners including IMO, OSRL, ITOPF and IOGP to advance coordinated preparedness efforts.
He is fluent in Arabic and Spanish.
