The challenges and complexities of the energy transition involve addressing a number of political, technological, economic, social and environmental dimensions. The strategy recognises that the energy transition will require a broad mix of solutions and the oil and gas industry will play its part.
Ipieca will:
Articulate the many pathways to energy transition
Encourage an integrated approach to energy transition
Advance environmental and social performance across the energy transition, including hard-to-abate sectors and renewable energies
Strategic process
Ipieca operates a four-year strategic plan cycle.
The development of the 2025-2028 Strategy took place throughout 2024 and early 2025, led by the Ipieca Executive Committee, building on input from our members and stakeholders.
The role of dialogue
Transparent and open dialogue helps guide Ipieca's strategy and work programme and ensures that its activities reflect key sustainability issues for the industry, as well as the views of stakeholders, whilst building on Ipieca’s key differentiators and value proposition.
Input from key stakeholders was obtained through a survey, as well as dialogue between the Ipieca Executive Committee and 16 external stakeholders at Ipieca Week in April 2024. The dialogue focused on stakeholders’ views on Ipieca’s role in the energy transition. The insights from our stakeholders provided us with constructive guidance and challenges on the role they see for Ipieca and how they think it should be achieved.
