The Ipieca Principles show what Ipieca and our members stand for: supporting key UN agreements and environmental and social good practice that aligns with them. In accordance with that, Ipieca has attended every COP since the inaugural event, held in Berlin in 1995.

As a non-lobby organization, Ipieca’s role is to listen to negotiations and to provide technical inputs and industry feedback on the issues under discussion when requested to do so.

During COP events we make use of our UNFCCC observer status to hold our own side events - including official side events when selected by the UNFCCC - to support debate on relevant topics. We also take part in events held by governments and other organizations and host meetings in the conference side-lines.
