Perenco has established the innovative Barge Training Centre, spanning across four countries and addressing training needs in Cameroon, Gabon, the Republic of Congo, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. This unique solution, floating on water, relocates to areas requiring training, ensuring seamless access to education.
For Perenco, maintaining high operational standards is not merely a practice but a norm. Continuous evolution necessitates regular review and revision across diverse teams, reflecting the company's commitment to excellence.
The Training Barge team, comprising experienced professionals from West Africa and beyond, oversees various aspects of training, including fieldwork, QHSE, production, mechanics, electricity, instrumentation, and well operations. Training modules encompass theoretical courses, practical group exercises, and scenario-based simulations, preparing staff for real-world situations encountered on Perenco's sites.
In 2022, the barge initiative trained 570 people across Cameroon, Gabon, the Republic of Congo, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Each of them received 7 to 9 half-day modules. In 2023, the barge trained around 1921 people, including Chad staff who were sent to Cameroon to attend their training. The scope of people reached by this initiative increased by almost 200% in a year.
