Ipieca is part of the UN Sub-Committee of Experts on the GHS. The application of Globally Harmonized System (GHS) criteria to petroleum substances was developed by Ipieca to facilitate appropriate human health hazard classification and labelling of petroleum substances within the ‘unknown or variable composition, complex reaction products and biological (UVCB) material’ group.
Building on this work, Ipieca is launching a regional webinar series that will begin with a global overview webinar, followed by regional sessions covering Latin America, South East Asia, Africa and the Middle East. The series will explore current regulatory frameworks, implementation challenges and emerging priorities, with a particular focus on petroleum substances and UVCBs.
This webinar featuring the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) and Shell will:
- Provide an overview of Ipieca's work on GHS and its guidance on UVCBs
- Provide an update on global GHS regulatory frameworks, implementation progress, and emerging technical priorities
- Help identify key gaps, capacity needs, and opportunities for alignment
Speakers
- Rebecca O’Donnell, Associate Director, Process Safety and Occupational Health, American Chemistry Council
- Glen Carty, Product Stewardship Regulatory Manager EMEA Region, Shell
Following the presentations, there will be an extended discussion and Q&A session.
