Ipieca support for clean air
The UNEP-Partnership for Clean Fuels and Vehicles
Ipieca is a founding member of the UNEP Partnership for Clean Fuels and Vehicles (PCFV), which focuses on air quality improvements through improved vehicle emissions standards and associated fuels. In 2021, the partnership celebrated the worldwide end of leaded petrol. Ipieca coordinated the downstream industry’s contribution to this huge milestone for global health and the environment. Ipieca is currently supporting UNEP-PCFV with the roll out of its Euro 4 fuels standards campaign, which aims to combine cleaner fuels with vehicle emission control technologies to minimise tailpipe pollution.
Supporting the IMO to decarbonise shipping
Ipieca is a long standing International Maritime Organization (IMO) observer and has supported many IMO workstreams, including providing technical inputs and feedback to its revised strategy on reduction of GHG emissions from ships. Ipieca is currently focused on supporting the IMO’s work to lower emissions of the maritime industry with a technology neutral life-cycle methodology, providing technical expertise and industry guidance.
Sustainable aviation with the ICAO
As an International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) observer, Ipieca’s role is to provide it with technical inputs on life cycle analysis of aviation fuels, including their processing, as well as analysing other sustainability criteria, including human rights, biodiversity, resources availability and supply chain issues related to their development.
