This year’s theme is ‘Indigenous Peoples and AI: defending rights, shaping futures’. It explores how artificial intelligence can support Indigenous communities by preserving languages, documenting oral histories, mapping traditional lands and enhancing climate resilience. Crucially, it emphasises that these benefits can only be realised when Indigenous Peoples are meaningfully involved in the design, governance and implementation of AI technologies.

How Ipieca supports Indigenous Peoples and community engagement

Working across the topics of Indigenous Peoples, local content and social investment, Ipieca supports the oil, gas and alternative energy industry to effectively engage with local communities and contribute to the social and economic development of the areas in which they operate by facilitating peer-learning, knowledge sharing and developing good practice and tools for social practitioners on emerging issues.
