About the International Day for Biological Diversity 2025

This year’s theme is ‘Harmony with nature and sustainable development’. It highlights the linkages between the targets of the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) and the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as two global agendas which can be accelerated by pursing them in tandem.

The UN Environment Programme has developed an interactive tool offering insights between the 23 targets of the GBF and the 17 SDGs.

Ipieca guidance to protect and enhance nature

Ipieca’s nature guidance is underpinned by the UNCBD and most Ipieca nature guidance is already aligned with the GBF targets.

Ipieca takes an integrated approach to climate, nature and people to maximise impact on these interconnected areas, convening oil, gas and alternative energies, UN, civil society, academia and other industrial sectors to support cross-sector synergies.

Demonstrates how Ipieca companies are taking ambitious actions which contribute to the GBF.
