Yesterday, the 25th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP25) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) opened in Madrid.

At last year's COP in Poland, agreement was reached on the implementation guidelines of the Paris Agreement, apart from Article 6 which will be a focus this time round. This year, the aim is to take the next vital steps in the UN climate change process, with the ultimate goal of advancing the full operationalization of the Paris Agreement. This COP will also be important in preparing the ground for increasing ambition in the lead up to Glasgow 2020, where a number of countries have already committed to submitting updated national climate action plans.

For the last two decades, Ipieca has actively observed climate negotiations and informed our members of outcomes, and this year will be hosting a side event, featuring a panel of industry experts and stakeholders. The event,How nature and technology can enhance ambition and accelerate GHG mitigation, aims to enhance understanding of both technological and natural carbon offsets, the risks associated with them, their role in greenhouse gas mitigation and the potential co-benefits they can bring in broader social and environmental areas; and ultimately meeting the aims of the Paris Agreement. Ipieca will also have an exhibition booth (33) on 4-5 December. We look forward to seeing you there!

Ipieca's side event will take place on Friday 6 December from 15:00-18:00 in the IETA Business Hub, Hall 8, Pavilion 8A08 and will feature:
