For nearly 30 years, Ipieca and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) have worked together to develop global oil spill preparedness and response capacity and on fuel quality. March 6th, 2018 marked a special day between Ipieca and IMO as Ipieca's Executive Director Brian Sullivan joined other guests to welcome Her Majesty the Queen as she commemorated the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the IMO. The Queen opened the finished building in 1983.
Ipieca continues its long-standing relationship with the IMO through its joint partnership programme, the Global Initiative, which builds capacity for contingency planning, response and preparedness to marine spills at priority locations around the world.
