Ipieca, in collaboration with IOGP, has completed the update of the Compendium of energy and GHG efficient technologies and practices. The final updates include fact sheets on:
- Reducing flaring in oil and gas operations
- Reducing venting in oil and gas operations
- Passing valves (leakage)
- Battery energy storage system (BESS) integration into power generation systems
- Fractionation columns
Energy efficiency is one of the most immediate, cost-effective ways to reduce GHG emissions and support global and industry climate goals. Analysis from the IEA demonstrates that up to 40% of the emissions abatement required by the Paris Agreement could be delivered by energy efficiency.
Adopting energy efficiency measures is a low-cost way to reduce emissions and can also have a positive impact on operational costs.
Ipieca will continue to collaborate with IOGP to promote uptake of this compendium to improve energy efficiency performance across the global oil and gas industry.
