Ipieca has developed a new fact sheet providing a high-level overview of how companies in the oil and gas sector can define, assess and respond to water risks.
The fact sheet presents an approach to assessing and responding to water risks that builds on current industrial practices and is applicable at portfolio and site levels. The approach consists of:
- Portfolio water risk screening
- Site water risk assessment
- Water action plan
The document also includes Ipieca's definition of water risk, as well as information on the applicability of four open source water tools that can support risk assessments: Aqueduct Water Risk Atlas, Local Water Tool for Oil and Gas, Water Risk Filter and the Water Risk Monetizer.
