The 7th UN Annual Forum on Business and Human Rights will be held from 26-28 November, in Geneva, Switzerland. The event brings together over 2,000 participants, including representatives from government, business, and non-governmental organizations, to discuss business-related human rights topics and to share ideas and good practice. This year's theme is Business respect for human rights - building on what works. The forum aims to progress the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, which Ipieca has actively supported since their endorsement in 2011.

During the forum, Ipieca will host an interactive session on Human rights due diligence in the oil and gas industry on Wednesday 28 November (8:30 - 9:45am, Room XXI). All are welcome to attend. Participants will discuss the challenges of human rights due diligence implementation, and the practical solutions to such challenges, in four areas relevant to the industry: community engagement, worker rights, responsible security, and the supply chain. The session speakers are:

  • Rebecca Collacott, Senior Manager for Sustainable Development, Ipieca
  • Steve Gibbons, Director, Ergon
  • Estelle Mandigout, Human Rights Specialist, ERM
  • Aysel Musayeva, Human Rights Specialist, BP
  • Jamie Williamson, Executive Director, International Code of Conduct Association

Ipieca will have a booth in the main hall for the duration of the forum and will also co-sponsor an event with the Global Business Initiative on Monday 26 November (6 - 8.30pm, at the International Labour Organisation) which will bring together around 200 business practitioners for an evening of networking.
