Over the course of the pandemic, the joint IOGP-Ipieca Health Committee has been playing a critical role in convening its members and key stakeholders around COVID-19, to exchange information, and facilitate peer-learning and collaboration to slow the spread of the virus.
Based on the collective insights of IOGP and Ipieca's Health Committee members, a series of COVID-19 position papers have been developed to help the industry respond to specific issues raised by COVID-19. The purpose of this series of position papers is to share the knowledge of the oil and gas industry's health experts with industry decision makers, addressing the risks and challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. The papers remain under regular review as the situation evolves.
*NEW* position paper on mental health risks
The COVID-19 pandemic is now a major factor in our personal and professional lives. There is an increased need to ensure our workplaces support good mental health, as global public health experts have warned that we are likely to see an increase in mental health issues. This position paper explores how the pandemic is impacting mental health, mental health threat factors, their business-related impacts and prevention and mitigation measures.
*UPDATED* position paper on testing
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the joint IOGP-Ipieca Health Committee has striven to ensure that the industry was operating with the most up-to-date and scientifically sound information possible when making decisions that affect workers' health during the pandemic. The Health Committee's advice on COVID-19 testing has evolved alongside the continuously evolving understanding of COVID-19 and COVID-19 testing. This is the fifth version of this document and presents the Committee's views on testing, isolation, and quarantine in industry workplaces.
