Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and held annually since 1973, World Environment Day has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental outreach.

This year its focus is on ending plastic pollution globally. Ridding the planet of plastic pollution can contribute to repairing ecosystems and retaining biodiversity, climate action, sustainable production and consumption, and protection of seas and oceans.
