Biodiversity actions plans (BAPs) are a systematic approach to biodiversity management that can help companies contribute to nature positive aims. This guidance provides the general process steps recommended to be used in preparing and implementing a BAP.

This guidance is designed to help health safety environment/sustainable development (HSE/ SD) professionals - those involved in environmental management for project planning - to develop biodiversity action plans (BAPs) for their activities and projects in the oil, gas and alternative energy sector.

The different ways in which companies have approached each of these steps are explored in a number of case studies that reflect a range of environmental, social and operational settings and project types, including renewable energy projects.

To assist users with limited biodiversity experience, supplementary information and references are used to set the guidance in the wider biodiversity conservation context.
