  • Carbon capture and storage - a key technology in low-emissions pathways
Calendar16 January 2018

Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is a key technology in transforming the energy system and moving towards the long-term temperature goals of the Paris Agreement. However, there are several barriers preventing it from expanding more swiftly.

This webinar covers:

  • The role of CCS as a key technology in low-emissions pathways.
  • The potential for CCS to reduce emissions in the power sector and carbon intensive industries (e.g. cement, steel, oil and gas,).
  • The potential to achieve negative emissions when used with bionergy.
  • Barriers including policy frameworks, scaling and storage capacity and what can be done to resolve them.

Speakers:
Julio Friedmann, Senior adviser for Energy Innovation at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and Xavier Riera-Palou, CO2 Strategy Manager, Shell and Chair of Ipieca's Climate Change Working Group.

The presentations will be followed by a Q&A session.
