In 2014, UNEP-WCMC (United Nations Environment Programme - World Conservation Monitoring Centre) and Ipieca, the global oil and gas industry association for environmental and social issues, co-hosted an event at the World Parks Congress. The purpose of the event was to discuss a series of case studies on the work of extractive companies in and around protected areas. The case studies presented demonstrate actions taken by companies to manage and mitigate potential impacts in a variety of regions.
