Ipieca and IOGP have published new guidance on Pandemic management in the oil and gas industry. This document is a culmination of the good practices, information and strategies developed by Ipieca and IOGP members to respond to the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Throughout a pandemic, the role of the global energy sector is to maintain energy security for society, while ensuring the health and safety of personnel as well as contributing to societal responses in areas of operations. By deploying effective risk mitigating measures to reduce the international and local transmission of infectious disease, the industry's workforce can be protected, and companies can actively contribute to societal priorities.

The document provides guidance for business decision makers and medical personnel to plan effective responses to pandemic-scale infectious diseases. To aid organizations' ability to operate and effectively contribute to societal responses, specific oil and gas-related risks and strategies are considered in the context of global, national and local responses to pandemic outbreaks. The document also identifies external organizations that can support management and operational personnel in the event of a pandemic.
