During Ipieca Week 2026, Ipieca stakeholders were invited to provide insights on the complex and interconnected development realities of Global South countries as they pursue economic and social progress while aiming to meet climate and nature goals.

The session, which included two panel discussions followed by a plenary workshop, explored how governments, financial institutions and civil society organisations can work with the energy sector and Ipieca to enable the Global South to pursue low-carbon development pathways that support energy access, mobility, water security, poverty reduction, and adaptation and resilience, while safeguarding nature and upholding the rights and needs of local communities.

It provides a platform to share knowledge, progress Ipieca’s work programme and gain external insights on how our industry can contribute to a sustainable energy transition.
