This webinar session discusses social and employment considerations associated with the energy transition, with a focus on ways to encourage women’s representation in the new energy mix. First, it looks at the challenges and opportunities of up-skilling and re-training the existing energy workforce. It also covers the importance of transferable skills and the potential of niche professionals in the oil and gas sector to apply their knowledge and expertise seamlessly in renewable energy fields.
The second half does a deep dive into the existing and emerging role of women in the energy field. As the employment landscape is poised to shift, discussions will highlight the vital role that women are playing in decentralised renewable energy solutions and their involvement in installation, maintenance, management and leadership activities. Experiences across Global North and Global South countries are shared to show the spectrum of women’s engagement in the energy transition.
