As part of Ipieca's mission to enhance and communicate knowledge and understanding, we are pleased to host a webinar on the recently launched World Bank's Global Gas Flaring Reduction Partnership (GGFR) 2022 Global Gas Flaring Tracker Report. Based on satellite observations, the annual report estimates that in 2021, 144 billion cubic metres of associated gas was flared, with reductions in flaring plateauing over the last decade.
During the webinar, Zubin Bamji and colleagues from the GGFR will provide insights and key takeaways from the 2022 Global Gas Flaring Tracker Report. This year, the report also explores efforts to reduce flaring at a national level in select countries, highlighted in a section called 'Promising reductions'. In addition, the 2022 tracker report emphasises the role of flaring in mitigating methane emissions.
