What is at stake at COP26?

COP26 takes place in Glasgow, 31 October to 12 November, hosted by the UK and Italian governments. The expectation is that this Conference of Parties (COP) will be the most significant since COP21, where the gap between the Paris Agreement goals and action to date will be narrowed by updated nationally determined contributions (NDCs). There is an assumption that this COP will also focus on the role of non-state actors and the importance of industries and cities in reaching net-zero by 2050.
