Aramco commissions renewable energy storage system for gas operations
The megawatt scale renewable energy storage system uses an Iron-Vanadium battery as a backup solar power source for gas well operations. It can support up to five wells with the ability to handle variable power demands efficiently and cost effectively. The system is designed to withstand the hot climate of Saudi Arabia.
Eni and the Ministry of Agriculture of Côte d’Ivoire to promote sustainable agricultural initiatives for the energy transition
Eni and Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministry of Agriculture have signed an agreement to develop sustainable vegetable oil crops on degraded land without affecting food production or forest ecosystems. The agreement aims to enhance the rubber supply chain and assess the introduction of oilseed crops.
Equinor’s first Danish solar plant starts production
Equinor’s 65 MW Ingerslev Å solar plant located in Jutland and operated by BeGreen—a wholly-owned subsidiary of Equinor—has started to produce power. The solar plant forms part of the company’s onshore renewables business which currently has ~1.2 GW of capacity in production and under construction.
ExxonMobil Foundation STEM Africa programme wins local impact award
The ExxonMobil Foundation STEM Africa programme, launched by ExxonMobil and Junior Achievement Africa, has received the ‘Local Impact Award for Driving Positive Change in African Communities’ at the Big Five Board Awards 2025 in London. The programme reached more than 3,000 students in its first year. Through STEM quizzes, competitions, and hands-on Innovation Camps, students tackle real-world challenges using science, technology, engineering, and math, building skills.

The May round-up showcases members’ commitment to support the local communities where they operate including flood relief support, fund raising for local non-profits, scholarships and internships. We also cover progress on biofuels, nature-based solutions and solar facilities as well as a partnership approach to assist industrial customers’ decarbonisation efforts.
