Moeve joins alliance to advance e-SAF and low-carbon chemicals pathway in Europe
Moeve has joined the Global Impact Coalition to advance a new methanol-based pathway for producing electro-sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF) and low-carbon chemicals in Europe. The initiative is conducting a feasibility study to assess building a sustainable olefins production facility using Methanol-to-Olefins (MTO) technology, aiming to decarbonise aviation and support the transformation of the chemical industry with scalable, low-carbon solutions.
This is not waste: transforming byproducts for a circular future
OMV is transforming waste byproducts—such as used cooking oil, agricultural residues, and plastics—into valuable resources like sustainable aviation fuel and new materials, supporting a circular economy and reducing environmental impact. Its approach demonstrates that waste streams can be repurposed as essential feedstocks, helping industries progress toward net-zero and sustainability goals.
1PointFive and Enbridge form joint venture for Pelican Sequestration Hub
1PointFive, a subsidiary of Occidental, and Enbridge have formed a 50/50 joint venture to develop the Pelican Sequestration Hub in Louisiana and build the necessary pipeline infrastructure to transport CO₂ from regional customers to the hub. The project is anchored by a 25-year offtake agreement for around 2.3 million metric tonnes of CO₂ per year from a planned low-carbon ammonia facility, aiming to support industrial decarbonisation and economic development in the region.
PETRONAS delivers Malaysia's first locally blended SAF
PETRONAS has delivered Malaysia’s first locally blended SAF marking a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to advance cleaner energy solutions for aviation. This achievement supports Malaysia’s sustainability goals and demonstrates PETRONAS’ commitment to developing innovative, lower-carbon products for the aviation industry.
Hapag-Lloyd and Shell sign multi-year liquefied biomethane deal
Hapag-Lloyd and Shell have signed an agreement for the supply of liquefied biomethane (Bio-LNG), building on their strategic collaboration to accelerate the decarbonisation of marine fuels. The deal supports Hapag-Lloyd’s goal to achieve net-zero fleet operations by 2045 by enabling the use of waste-based renewable fuels across its fleet, with the Bio-LNG supplied being ISCC EU-certified for sustainability and emissions reductions.
Overcoming challenges to contribute towards a nature-positive future
Emma Gagen, Director of Data and Research at ICMM argues that the mining industry, which has a key role in providing the raw materials for the energy transition, can navigate the challenges to achieving no net loss or a net gain of biodiversity, through rigorous application of the mitigation hierarchy, local context, and strong partnerships between industry, scientists, and policymakers.
