Chevron completes total wellhead platform reuse at Chaba B
Chevron has completed its first full wellhead platform reuse project in the Gulf of Thailand, repurposing an existing offshore platform structure to support new production while reducing costs and resource use. Chevron estimates the project avoided around 4,280 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions compared with building a new platform, showcasing how circular economy approaches can extend asset life and lower emissions.
Study on biofuels from renewable feedstocks: an opportunity for Europe
A study by Eni and TEHA Group highlights renewable biofuels as a practical pathway to support transport decarbonisation while strengthening Europe’s energy security and industrial competitiveness. The study finds that investment in biofuels can preserve jobs and skills, regenerate industrial sites and create economic value alongside emissions reductions.
Moeve invested over 100 million euros to improve the environmental performance of its Campo de Gibraltar operations in 2025
Moeve’s latest EMAS Environmental Statement highlights more than EUR 100 million of investment in environmental improvements across its San Roque Energy Park and Puente Mayorga Chemical Plant, focused on decarbonisation, energy efficiency, water stewardship and waste reduction. The report demonstrates how sustained investment and transparent reporting can support measurable environmental performance gains, including lower water use and increased waste recovery at both sites.
A case study from Gulf Sustain highlights OPAL as a leading example of sector-wide worker welfare governance, using a common standard and shared accountability across operators, contractors and subcontractors to drive more consistent implementation. The article suggests that industry-owned, government-endorsed frameworks such as OPAL’s can help build stronger organisational capability and improve worker welfare outcomes across complex supply chains.
PETRONAS and partners advance strategic collaboration on methane in South East Asia
PETRONAS has partnered with the Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC), JGC Corporation and TotalEnergies to establish the Southeast Asia Methane Emissions Technology Evaluation Centre, a regional hub for methane measurement, monitoring and capability development. The initiative aims to strengthen methane management across the region by combining technical expertise, technology evaluation and training to support more effective emissions reduction and reporting practices.
Sonangol produces Angolan sustainable aviation fuel study
The Sonangol Research and Development Center and Sonangol Refining and Petrochemicals recently published a study which analyses sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production technologies potential for the Angolan context. It concludes that Angola has favourable conditions to develop SAF due to the availability of biomass, the high potential for renewable energy production and existing refining infrastructure.
Moving social performance forwards – reflections from the mining industry
ICMM argues that social performance has reached an inflection point, with increasingly complex social risks shaped by the energy transition requiring organisations to move beyond reliance on individual practitioners and embed capability, leadership and social risk expertise across the business. Companies that invest now in institutionalised social performance capability will be better placed to manage risk, maintain trust and create long-term value.
