Cepsa
Cepsa developing €1b e-methanol plant
Cepsa and C2X are investing €1 billion in an e-methanol plant in Andalusia, Spain, with an initial capacity of 200,000 tonnes per year potentially expanding to 1 million tonnes per year as the market grows. E-fuels are synthetic fuels that are identical in composition to conventional hydrocarbon fuels and can use existing infrastructure, and can therefore support the decarbonisation of shipping.
Hydrogen storage project to advance lower carbon future
Chevron’s Advanced Clean Energy Storage Project in Delta, Utah, will convert renewable energy into hydrogen, producing up to 100 metric tonnes of hydrogen per day that will be stored in salt caverns at site, helping meet the need for dispatchable lower-carbon power generation.
GeoPark recognised for contribution to knowledge about Colombia’s biodiversity
GeoPark received two accolades for its commitment to preserving biodiversity during the COP16: Nature and Business pre-meeting. The first for its contribution of biodiversity data to the public platforms SiB Colombia and the Global Biodiversity Information System. The second for its ‘Corporate Management for Nature’ programme, which provides guidelines for reporting and publishing biodiversity data, which can be used by companies from all economic sectors.

From 22-26 April, Ipieca held its flagship event in London. During Ipieca Week, input was sought from 19 stakeholders during 3 panels, providing insight into their collaboration with Ipieca, its benefits and the evolution of Ipieca’s role in fostering further dialogue; and how Ipieca can support members’ leadership on the energy transition in the context of sustainable development. This input will feed into the development of Ipieca’s 2025-2028 strategy.
