According to the IPCC Special Report on 1.5°C and the IEA Net zero by 2050 roadmap, meeting the ambitions of the Paris Agreement will not be possible through electrification of the energy system alone, especially for those countries aiming to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. In the transition to a low-carbon economy, hydrogen could play a key role.
Ipieca recently launched an awareness briefing Hydrogen: enabling the energy transition and the pathways to net-zero emissions, providing a general overview of technology and areas of application, exploring different methods of production of hydrogen and presenting a range of industry case studies.
Following an introduction to the Ipieca document, this webinar will invite guest panellists to explore the essential role hydrogen can play in supporting the decarbonization of hard-to-abate sectors and a low-carbon future, as well as share industry case studies and opportunities.
Panellists include:
- Antonio Lopez Rodriguez (Repsol, Chair of Ipieca Low-Emissions Pathways - Hydrogen Task Force)
- Corin Taylor (DNV)
- Caroline Amblard (World Business Council for Sustainable Development)
- Shahid Hasan (King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center)
- David Grainger (Equinor)
