In support of a net-zero future, Ipieca acts as a catalyst to bring experts together to advance members’ contribution to the pathways to a resilient low-emissions future and uphold Ipieca’s position as part of the international dialogue on the energy transition.

Through our work on issues such as greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, energy efficiency and reducing the impact of fuel emissions, Ipieca is helping the industry be part of the climate change solution. Ipieca leads engagement with United Nations agencies on behalf of the membership, including UNFCCC, IPCC, UNEP, IMO and ICAO, and has an ongoing record of convening expert workshops to explore key climate-related issues, informing the industry and stakeholders.

By doing this, Ipieca helps the oil and gas industry manage its environmental impact and address climate risks while it works to meet the increasing demand for energy.

Exploring low-emissions pathways

Ipieca is continuing to advance its work on pathways to a low-emissions future in light of the Paris Agreement, including what we see as key elements and solutions to address climate change and demonstrate our commitment to meeting the challenge.

Emissions management

Ipieca works with the industry to help reduce emissions with publications, tools and through providing opportunities for sharing learnings.

Engaging with UNFCCC and IPCC

Ipieca supports and encourages governments in their efforts to reach an effective and clear international agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to manage the risks and impacts of climate change.

Improving fuels and products

As vehicle emission control technology advances, the oil industry is increasingly being challenged to produce and supply cleaner, better performing hydrocarbon fuels. The environmental consequences of the fuel-vehicle system are a concern for many stakeholders.
